Nature based Solutions

Set in the strategic theme of Pathways to Sustainability, this challenge focuses on the theme of Nature-Based Solutions. Nature-based solutions describe strategies that look to nature for inspiration in solving societal challenges, promoting environmental integrity, human well-being and long-term resilience. These approaches emphasize working with nature, rather than against it, in developing adaptive responses to issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss and resource pressures. To implement such an approach also organizational, financial and governance cultures need to be involved and adapted. You will explore how nature-based solutions are developed and implemented in specific social or institutional contexts. Working with nature-based solutions encourages you to consider how social, cultural and ecological dimensions are intertwined in efforts to build a more sustainable and inclusive future.
